The previous X-Men films have been awesome, but the table turn the bad side to the franchise this time around, as the X-Me. Dark Phoenix performance in box office was extremely poor. The film had already had poor reviews, which also contributed to its poor earnings in Box Office. $US200 million was used in making Dark Phoenix, but the film earned as low as $US33 million at the box office during the weekend.
The movie was directed by X-Men Simon Kinberg, who is not new to the franchise. Cathleen Taff, who is the Disney’s president of theatrical distribution, said the box office earning was“softer than we hoped”. She added: “While the film didn’t open the way we wanted, we think the legacy of the X-Menseries is important, and it’s more important than how one film opens. We’re trying to keep it in perspective.”
