Nine people reportedly missing as intense wildfire hits northern California, today (Saturday) after killing two firefighters, burning hundreds of buildings to ashes. About 3,400 firefighters on ground and air battled the huge Fire early this morning as it spread through Redding, in California’s scenic Shasta-Trinity area. Over 38,000 residents have fled from their homes as the fire as it grew bigger with high speed on Thursday, burning over 500 buildings, leaving Keswick in ruins.
The fire is as a result of high summer temperatures and low humidity, and it is expected to continue for at least the next week, according to CalFire Director Ken Pimlott. He said:
“This fire is a long way from done,”
