Sleepless centers on an undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs (Jamie Foxx), who finds himself caught in a high-stakes web of corrupt cops, internal affairs and murderous gangsters. When a failed heist leads to the kidnapping of his teenage son (Octavius J. Johnson), Downs must race against time during a wild and restless night to save him and bring the criminals to justice even as Down’s family were in the midst of flying bullets.
One of the main hit points of Sleepless movie is that there was no single dull moment from the beginning of the movie to the end. In addition, the movie ended on a good note, which gives us a clue of what to expect in Sleepless sequel. The movie is indeed sleepless, as Jamie Foxx was on the run from the beginning of the movie until the end; he never slept nor rested, even as he was wounded severely. Eighty percent of the scenes were shot in the casino, which is the most interesting scene as well. One of the most dangerous act of Foxx was when he packaged sugar as cocaine for the drug dealers in order to retrieve his son, which was a dangerous play that could have turned out brutal if the drug dealer had found out on the spot of transaction but he was smart enough to make them leave immediately without checking.
The concluding scene of the movie revealed that more corrupt cops were involved in the drug business than we thought, which will be more brutal in Sleepless sequel. Also, we don’t know yet if Foxx’s wife will still be with him since she is now engaged to someone else because foxx was too busy with his work. Overall, Sleepless is a great movie, which I least expected it to be but turned out to beat my expectation.
