Before i say much about Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, i would like to ask how many people felt a bit disappointed after watching the movie, considering the trailer and the hype? I think i expected much more than i watched in the new movie in terms of the concept, which made me think the original Jumanji is far better than Welcome to the Jungle. Before i proceed let me give you a brief overview of the movie in case you’ve not watched the movie.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle centers on four high school kids, who discovered an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s trans, becoming adult avatars of the game they chose. Soon they discover you don’t just play Jumanji but you have to survive it for real. To beat the game and return to the real world, they have to go on a dangerous quest to discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves or they’ll be stuck in the game forever.

The first wrong thing about the movie is finding the game on a beach shore, which i couldn’t connect to the previous Jumanji, we should know the mystery that brought the game to the shore. Secondly, the four high school kids were already trembling when they found the game in the school store, which is wrong, it means they have an idea of something terrifying about the game. In a real life scenario they wouldn’t be terrified to play a common console game, but the look in their eyes showed they were prepare for something to happen (which shows the movie script was faulty). Thirdly, the villain in the movie was not cool at all, it is not clear why he is the villain and how he got in to the game. Fine, every game has a villain but in as much that they are trying to create a real life and yet game setting, then the villain should have and affiliation with the real world.

Finally, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle lack real time monsters, which would have given the movie a whole lot of meaning and life. The bike riders didn’t give the movie much life, they should have used real monsters and i think using just two to three kids would have created more epic scenarios in the movie . However, the hilarious part of the movie is cool, and also the run time is too short for an adventure movie.

Score: 6/10
