Annabelle creation is the most scariest 2017 movie i have watched so far, the movie is filled with terror and at the same unrealistic in some areas. Before i go into detailed review let me quickly give you a background of the movie. Annabelle creation is about a toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife, Esther, who had some guest in their home. The guest include a nun and six orphaned girls into their. However, 12 years earlier, the couple’s 7-year-old daughter Annabelle died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own. The doll actually claimed to be Annabelle! Annabelle creation has successfully made me terrified, but at the same time i was pissed at some aspect of the story-line, the concept of the movie follows that of Evil Dead, but not as scary as Evil Dead. Here are my takes about the movie:
Firstly, according to Esther, Annabelle’s mother, she said when Annabelle died, her spirit was begging them to let her dwell in her doll, which they allowed her, and they were happy to see her spirit in the house again. Soon they discovered, it wasn’t Annabelle but another sort of evil spirit that almost took their lives. The concept/story of Annabelle’s spirit begging her parents to dwell in her doll is not creative enough, that’s not real. Also, where did the later discovered evil spirit came from? We do not know the source and why did the spirit choose their house? This is unclear and extremely vague.
Secondly, according to the rest of Esther’s story, she said they then captured and locked the doll and the evil spirit both in a room sealed with the word of God (The word of God does not only capture evil, it destroys evil!). This is so unrealistic, no one will ever continue living in a house that he/she is aware that evil spirit resides in. I feel the movie producer and director, think people who will watch Annabelle creation movie are babies, because if not, the script should have include the couple’s leaving the house and if they are then followed by the evil spirit as they run for their lives, that would have been better, but we still do not know where the spirit came from.
Also, the reason the nun and the six girls went to stay in the house was not clear enough, they claimed they do not have anywhere to go, if that is the case, how came they left the house at the end of the movie? That concept is so obsolete. Horror movies of today has gone beyond the concept of a terrifying monster chasing or killing people for no reason, that’s old school. We should know the mission of the evil spirit and the source. Annabelle creation’s director and producer need to watch Season of the Witch, Van Helson and Solomon Cane to understand concepts of evil spirit movies and how they emerge. Evil spirits are either on a mission to fight the people of God just to make them bow before them or in the mission to recruit, but most especially they are interested in the saints, that’s why true Christians face a lot of temptations, but God deliver them from all!
